Product Description

Hunky gay painter David (Troy Ruptash) finds his muse in married man Matt (Vincent Corazza), but Matt's wife Violet (Cherilee Taylor) likes David too! Leaving Metropolis is a sexy character piece packed with clever wordplay and engaging romance. A suitably steamy directorial debut from Queer as Folk writer Brad Fraser.

Gay painter David (Troy Ruptash, M.V.P. II: Most Valuable Primate, The Perfect Son) is in need of a muse. Looking for inspiration, he applies for a job as a waiter. Husband and wife restaurant owners Matt (Vincent Corazza, Owning Mahoney) and Violet (Cherilee Taylor, Masterpiece Monday) don't know quite what to make of David –- he seems unconcerned with money, and overqualified for the job –- but they love his energy and ideas.

When David eventually comes out to them, Matt (who dreams of being a cartoonist) asks to see his paintings. But when Matt discovers he has become David's secret muse, some unexpected feelings overwhelm him, and he's drawn into a risky relationship that will change all their lives.

The film's sharp and gorgeous cast is rounded out with Thom Allison's turn as David's pre-op, HIV-positive transsexual room-mate, and Lynda Boyd as his fag-hag gal-pal.

Leaving Metropolis is the film version of Brad Fraser's hit play Poor Super Man, which Time Magazine called one of the top ten plays of 1994. Fraser also wrote Love and Human Remains and is best known as a writer and co-producer for Showtime's "Queer as Folk."

"With engaging actors, steamy sex, a hyperactive stream of mostly witty dialogue, and a core of emotional weight, Leaving Metropolis is well worth the time you give it." --DVD Verdict
